Russia’s Power Machines want to export equipment to Kenya
MOSCOW, Jun 8 (PRIME) -- Russian power engineering company Power Machines plans to partake in several tenders for exports of geothermal power plant equipment to Kenya, Marina Neronova, head of the company’s department for external market sales, said in an interview to corporate magazine published Wednesday.
“Designers at the KTZ (Kaluga Turbine Works) have developed a 35 megawatt (MW) turbine for geothermal sources, and we are taking part in several tenders in Kenya with this equipment,” she said.
Many countries where Power Machines sells its production, including Chile, Mexico, Uruguay, Bolivia, Tanzania, Kenya, South Korea, and Indonesia, have state programs for development of alternative power sources. Indonesia and countries along the East African Rift have large geothermal fields.
“Potential of geothermal sources only in Kenya is estimated at 10,000 MW,” she said.
